Merit Health River Region is dedicated to helping people rebuild their lives after illness and injury. We believe that recovery encompasses both mind and body, so our services address both the mental and physical aspects of rehabilitation. The rehabilitation team includes knowledgeable, caring professionals who are dedicated to providing quality care and support.
Services include:
- Inpatient care – Acute care professionals are available to provide rehabilitative care during a patient's hospital stay.
- Outpatient services – We provide physical therapy, speech language therapy and occupational therapy services at the location in the Merit Health Medical Group building located at 2200 Highway 61 North, Vicksburg, MS 39183.
- Specialized programs - Merit Health River Region also offers dedicated programs that address the unique needs of specific illnesses and conditions. Each person has different needs during recovery, so rehabilitation programs include a range of therapies and assistance to ensure patients receive the care and support they need. Therapists also serve as educators to ensure patients, family members and caregivers are well informed and able to meet recovery challenges.
The multidisciplinary rehabilitation team provides care and support to address a range of conditions and needs, including:
- Aquatic therapy - Aquatic physical therapy is a personalized rehabilitation program that uses the properties of water to achieve therapeutic results.
- Arthritis - Management therapies incorporate stretching, exercise and pain management techniques to preserve and improve range of motion.
- Cancer - Recovery strategies focus on helping patients regain strength and endurance.
- Heart and vascular conditions - Rehabilitation strategies include exercise, diet and education to help patients regain their overall health.
- Joint replacement - Physical rehabilitation focuses on helping patients regain mobility and return to daily activities.
- Neurological conditions - Customized therapies are designed to meet the cognitive, physical and emotional needs of each patient. Therapists assist with everything from helping patients re-learn skills to offering compensatory strategies to provide patients with as much independence as possible.
- Speech, language and swallowing disorders - For adults and pediatric patients with a wide variety of conditions that affect oral motor skills, swallowing, speech and language abilities.
